My Threadless submission is good to go. Please visit this link and take a few seconds to vote for my design. Also, if you would be so kind as to pass this link on to as many folks as you know so they could also vote for it I would greatly appreciate it!

Rigo's Daughter

2008
Ballpoint pen on mat board
9x12 inches

This is a portrait drawing of the daughter of one of my managers from work.

Drawing children is maybe the most terrifying mode of portraiture to me, because
a)you're dealing with a physical appearance which is not as defined as an adult's
b)you're dealing with parents who, being parents, have an acute knowledge of their children's appearance and as such can be very hard to please (though this is not the case with this drawing)

This was pretty successful if I may say so myself. The work on the face was a definite exercise in letting suggestion do more of the work than actual definition via marks.

Submission to JPG Magazine's 9 to 5. You can view a larger there :)

Let me know if you submitted to this one, I'm always excited to be able to vote for stuff for publication.
I seriously think it's a genius concept, and the past issues have been really cool.

NEED HELP PRINTING! [Nov. 16th, 2006|03:51 pm]

I need to print a small book for my type 2 class. However, i do not own a printer. If anyone has a good color printer that will line up well when printing double sided that I could use, I would be willing to pay for ink and such. Please email me if you can help! The pages are 6 x 10 so no big size requirement.

Here is a project I had to do for a Digital Imaging class. Well, I didn't have to do it exactly like this, but I did have to do a compositing project, you know the deal.
I can handle shooting for compositing, and I know how to do it, but I'm not really a fan of actually doing it.

I'd rather spend 8 hours behind the lens in the camera or processing out a whole set or show of images versus taking the same time to make a composited image look really slick. It can look really cool if done right and I know people who do amazing things in photoshop, but it's just not as much fun for me. Working to make something look surreal in a straight photo is more exciting to me than working to make something unreal look acceptable to the eye.

900px tall jpg behind cut.

The file was created to make a 20inch to 40 inch tall print, so even as a large jpg it's not really viewed as intended.

You can see a close up from the interior shoot in my blog, as well as my other work.

Not much is going on right now photographically.
I'm tired because of 3D design and collage projects for my digital class.
(I wish we were doing more photography and less photoshop.. anyone else ever feel dissapointed in a majors class for that kind of reason?)

Also, feel free to vote (hourly if you'd like) for my photography myspace profile.

My friend Coley moved up to Brooklyn a few days ago, so we took some photos before he left.
This is a crappy flatbed scan of one of him. I'll be posting the rest in this blog at some point (I scanned the film for many)

RA-4 Cprint from a negative print made from provia slide film.
(if you're interested in the process, my spaceman prints in my blog were done like this too)
